Live action Snow White remake's premiere will be muted

Forbes says the premiere of the new Snow White remake, which still reeks of wokery, will have a very toned down premiere this month, and probably not even be screened for critics:
Disney will not invite most media outlets to the premiere of its upcoming “Snow White” live-action remake, Variety reported Tuesday, as the film’s diverse casting, the political views of its lead actors and star Rachel Zegler’s suggestion the new film will be more feminist have drawn scrutiny, particularly from right-wing critics.
I guess they resent anybody right-wing would take issue, huh? But they fail to explain why, if diversity is such a big deal, it can only be by remaking an old classic, not producing a new, stand-alone movie that might have a similar plot but is otherwise unrelated to fairy tales and cartoons like Snow White proper. In its own way, this is a variation on the point made about audiences being lectured they should care about the costume more than the character in superhero comics when DC/Marvel were turning out their own diversity propaganda in the past 2 decades. And then, it's noted:
Zegler, a Latina actress, portrays the titular Disney princess, a decision that roiled some critics because the source material, the Brothers Grimm fairytale “Snow White,” describes the protagonist as having “skin as white as snow.” Zegler defended her casting in a 2022 interview, stating “Snow White” is popular in Spanish-speaking countries and she was proud to be cast to represent her heritage: “I get to be a Latina princess.” Zegler told Variety in 2024 the character’s name will be explained by the title character surviving a snowstorm as a child.
One can only wonder why it has to be in a remake of a cartoon she'd be a princess, and not in say, a science-fantasy story that's an original? I guess because she doesn't want to make a movie about a princess commanding an army who could be considered somebody for both boys and girls alike to admire. Zegler certainly hasn't said anything that'd make the sensible public admire her. And she wasn't the only one who goofed:
Peter Dinklage, the Emmy-winning actor best known for “Game of Thrones” who also has dwarfism, slammed Disney in 2022 for remaking “Snow White” because of the seven dwarves characters. Dinklage said he was surprised Disney was so proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White, while “you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that f—ing backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together?” Disney responded to Dinklage’s concerns, stating it is consulting with the dwarfism community to “avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film.” In 2023, footage from the production that depicted the seven dwarves, which Disney confirmed was authentic, surfaced, depicting just one actor with dwarfism while the other six were actors of different races. The casting received criticism from right-wing critics, including Megyn Kelly, who said the film was “racialized to check every box they can, except for all the dwarf boxes because they’re offensive.” The casting also sparked some criticism among the dwarfism community, including from actor Jason Acuña, who said the new approach took away potential jobs for actors with dwarfism.
When they resorted to animatronic dwarves in what I assume is the final cut and master footage, they still took away jobs from real life dwarves. So, I'm sure no diminutive folks will be wasting their money either at the theater (by the way, didn't the 7 dwarves live in a house?). And, lest we forget, there's Zegler's stupefying leftism to consider as a damaging factor:
Zegler sparked conservative backlash after the 2024 election when she posted a series of Instagram stories criticizing President Donald Trump and his supporters. “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself may never know peace,” she said, calling his election victory an indication of a “deep sickness in this country.” “F— Donald Trump,” Zegler added. Zegler later apologized following criticism from conservatives, acknowledging “hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away from peace and understanding.” Gadot and Zegler have also sparked some controversy because of their apparently opposite views on the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Gadot is Israeli, served two years in the Israel Defense Forces and has been publicly vocal in support of Israel, particularly since the Oct. 7 attacks. Zegler has said on X she has been “public with a pro-Palestine stance since 2021.” The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel has urged people to boycott “Snow White” over Gadot’s pro-Israel stance, while Ofir Akunis, Israel’s consul general in New York, accused Zegler of having little knowledge of the Middle East, adding: “Shame on her.”
She has little knowledge of Islam either. This has also made the film a poor choice of a project for Gal Gadot, who plays the baddie here, and one can argue this kind of film doesn't do favors for matriarchal figures either. If Zegler wanted to promote this as a "feminist" film, the portrayal of the queen as bad only compounds all that's wrong with it even in that regard.
“Snow White” arrives only one month after Disney’s latest film sparked some similar anti-“woke” backlash. “Captain America: Brave New Worldstirred controversy when Anthony Mackie, a Black actor who portrayed Captain America, said: “For me, Captain America represents a lot of different things and I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations.” His remarks sparked instant blowback from conservatives, who interpreted it as anti-American, prompting Mackie to clarify he is a “proud American and taking on the shield of a hero like [Captain America] is the honor of a lifetime.” The film also sparked some controversy over its inclusion of an Israeli superhero, portrayed by Israeli actress Shira Haas. The character is a member of Israel’s intelligence agency in the Marvel comics, but is portrayed as a U.S. government official in the film, sparking criticism from some Israelis who felt the character’s heritage was diminished. But pro-Palestinian protests have also criticized the film for including the character at all, while the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement called for a boycott of the film.
When you say a character of Israeli background cannot appear at all, that's shamefully racist. If Sabra were an Armenian character, they'd likely have the same reaction, given the chance. Disney's response was shameful, though as I've noted before, it's to be wondered what creator Bill Mantlo's response would be, if he were in a better condition than he is today with his health.

The Washington Times has more, and says:
Many Disney fans took issue not only with her remarks but also with her casting, arguing that the studio prioritized diversity over preserving the story’s original character.
That's telling more than Forbes actually does, but then, Forbes is a left-wing business magazine, and what else can you expect?
“Game of Thrones” actor Peter Dinklage, who has dwarfism, ripped the film’s production for its contradictions.

[...] Disney responded by saying it had “consulted with members of the dwarfism community” and was “taking a different approach” to the characters “to avoid reinforcing stereotypes.” The studio then replaced the seven dwarfs with “magical creatures” of various sizes and genders, further fueling accusations that Disney pushes a progressive agenda.
Correct, but again, they failed the real life dwarf community regardless. I'm guessing the film was overbudget at that point though, and they didn't want to spend money on new actors, so they resorted to the ultra-cheap choice of animatronic dwarves instead.
Ms. Zegler’s past political activism has also drawn scrutiny. In 2020, she attacked Trump supporters on Instagram, writing, “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.”

She later apologized, though she has recently used her platform to advocate for Palestinians, a stance that has put her at odds with her Israeli co-star Gal Gadot, an outspoken supporter of her home country.
After October 7, 2023, Zegler's bias is nothing short of abominable. And contradicts any "feminism" she may claim to uphold. If her Snow Woke movie tanks, it's for the best. And let's hope Gadot, so long as she works as an actress, makes her project selections more carefully, so as not to make herself look foolish or as though she were the patsy of a progressive. Of course, let's not forget Gadot too is a leftist, and Wonder Woman 1984 embodied several leftist ingredients, so Gadot decidedly has to do some reevaluation of her own support for any specific leftist cause. That's practically what enabled woke movies like this new live action Snow White remake to come about.
