Has Sins Past really been phased out of continuity? Probably not

The Nashua Telegraph wrote about the new Spider-Man movie and history of Gwen Stacy, and says something I'm not so sure is accurate:
Currently the Parker-Watson marriage has been erased and forgotten (as well as a child the couple once had).

And believe it or not, one 2004 story established that Gwen had sex – and twins – with Norman “Green Goblin” Osborn before her death!

Thankfully, that story has dropped into the memory hole, as well.
Oh, I'm not so sure of that. Never mind that the reference to Sins Past is only cursory and makes no attempt to reprimand Joe Quesada for doing whatever he could to set up such a monstrosity, they weakly assume that Quesada and Axel Alonso have actually written it out of continuity as it really should've been years ago. But sadly, I'm afraid that may not be the case at all. True, it may have been all but forgotten lately, but if they're allowing for it to remain in the pseudo-continuity they're going by today, then they haven't done anything to mend the harm they led to, nor to mend any fences with the Spider-fans they drove away.

And what's this about the Spider-marriage being forgotten? It may be gone, but it's not forgotten by the many rightfully angry Spider-fans who've had their intellects insulted by Quesada and JMS' show of contempt for Mary Jane Watson. If JMS really didn't want to alienate the fans, he would never have even begun writing Sins Past to begin with.

And what if references to Sins Past resurface again some day as long as horrible people like Alonso are still in charge? Then they definitely aren't doing anything to mend fences or to draw in new audiences who expect better storytelling than what JMS ever thought of.

Oops, looks like that was one spam comment that got past the filter. :)

Oh, those wacky spammers. Heh.

Anyway, one can hope that story got tossed out, especially as per Gwen's newfound popularity with the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series and the new reboot movie. Because, yeah, who wants to tell the kids who are now growing up with Gwen, "gee, guess what she did with Norman Osborn?" Hah...

I'm not crazy about using a retcon undoing a bad story, as the retcon's purpose was to undo a good concept, the Spidey marriage, but I'll take it.
