Why does Steve Englehart think nobody does anything about what leftists think matters?

Colossus of Rhodey has a quote from an interview with Steve Englehart from the July 2011 issue of Alter Ego, where he brings up his Secret Empire story from Capt. America in the 70s that was a metaphor for Watergate. While he kept the story itself subtle and didn't hammer readers over the head, his own political opinions are what's saddening, when he says that "since then, we've had guys starting wars using lies as excuses, and nobody seems to do anything about that." Why does he think that when there's only so many mainstream left-wing press sources, politicians and anti-war activists that attacked the Iraq war and the Bush administration years ago, and come to think of it, the Vietnam war as well? I've never understood why some left-wingers don't seem to admit or realize how much the press sources on their side are doing what he wishes for, sad as it is, since they only undermine efforts to combat the real evils of this world.

At least the difference he had from many of today's writers is that he didn't go out of his way to hammer the audience mercilessly with his personal politics. If the writers of today would just let that serve as an example, then from a political perspective, comics would certainly be a lot better off.

Thanks for the link love, Avi!

Er, what?

Englehart made Nixon the literal head of the Secret Empire. Englehart then had him kill himself to fulfill the left's sick death wish where their fellow leftist was concerned. Cap then resigned because he was upset of what had become of the US.

He didn't show him on-screen because he was worried about censorship. But subtle it ain't.
