Quesada keeps giving a fake sense of reality
Everywhere I look I still see People who are still disgusted with Spiderman's Deal with the Devil and refuse to buy any Spiderman Comic past OMD as long as the effects are still in play. Also People who I who still read spiderman past OMD are tried and bored with with peter acting like a goofball or Manchild if harsher on the criticism and some more disgusted with every relationship is handled past the marriage. So despite what you say a lot more people are still upset than you want to admit. But Quesada is still shameless as ever, and said:
Perhaps you’re right but at the moment Amazing Spider-Man is our #1 selling title aside from Star Wars and that’s a reality that I can’t deny and a customer base that is telling us otherwise. And Quesada himself is part of that effort to cast a false sense of reality, which sales charts do not support. If Spidey were successful, however, the commentor gave a hint why - people who find the writing by embarrassments like Dan Slott terrible yet continue to buy and read the book anyway, as do the speculators, and the latter is something I'm sure he'd rather not admit. This past month's real success story in stores, while still nowhere near the numbers of movies, was Orphan Black from IDW. Even then, as I said, it's still not a blockbuster with sales of less than half a million, and Quesada has to stop deluding himself into thinking the declining sales for Spidey are either. Besides, he's one of the small group he speaks of, and it's small groups of loonies he sides with.
The problem with the internet at times is that it can give you a false sense of what’s really real. Sometimes a small group can sound like a stadium full of people, sometimes a stadium full of people can be drown out by a small group. I’m not denying and totally respect your dissatisfaction with the title but I can’t deny the customers, new and laps who are now buying the title in large numbers as well as all the great new Spidey related characters who are spinning out of the title.

Yet sales of the book are down compared to what it was with other writers. Saying you are a top seller in a market that is failing to keep sales is not a good thing.
Spider-man is constantly getting beat in sales by the main flagship competition Batman. When you have a top tier product you compare it to other top tier products.
The book rests on gimmicks and the sales numbers prove it. If you watch the numbers when a gimmick ends the book starts shedding readers then a new gimmick helps keep sales such as a major tie in story or a reboot with a new #1.
Marvel is shedding long time readers with the hopes of getting new ones and it does not seem to be working very well.
