What a few writers are saying about today's suicide bombing in Belgium

There was a suicide jihad attack in Brussels today, just a few days after one of the Paris bloodbath masterminds was arrested in the Molenbeek district. And how do some comics writers react? Dan Slott, for one, is not going about this the right way. He began by retweeting a post attacking Fox News for blaming the attack on political correctness, and then:

What's that supposed to mean? Some kind of acronym for cursing at Fox? Tsk tsk.

And is that supposed to be a moral equivalent? Nobody with sense should take any alleged condemnation from Slott at face value. Nor should they assume Ron Marz is any better:

And Marz is still looking for opportunities to bash Republicans instead of writing a convincing condemnation of religious savages. Pathetic and ignorant of Europeans who've been denigrated by these obscenities.

Even this falls way short of courage.

Leave it to Conway to seek more opportunities to bash the GOP too, rather than complain about evil mentalities running rampant anywhere in the world. As Ted Cruz says, we don't need lectures from Obama about "islamophobia". Similarly, we don't need lectures and narrow rantings from some of these comic creators about Republicans supposedly being infinitely worse than the jihadists ravaging civilized societies.

"What's that supposed to mean? Some kind of acronym for cursing at Fox? Tsk tsk."

Uh, no: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=FFS

"And Marz is still looking for opportunities to bash Republicans instead of writing a convincing condemnation of religious savages."

Because a tweet from a comics writer is more important than the comments from two presidential candidates? Come on ...

Dan Slott loves to rant and rave about the NRA, but when the only thing there is to talk about in the news is Islamic terrorists blowing up innocent people then suddenly he needs to sign off. Telling.

There will be the usual hypocritical responses on social media: Progressives like Marz, Slott, and Simone may use Belgian flags for avatars or profile pictures, they may post "Je Suis Brussels" comments, and so on. But they will also whine about how they are afraid that there will be an anti-Muslim backlash.

And, as usual, our politicians will insist that Islam had nothing to do with it. They may try to blame it on the NRA.

The Europeans brought this on themselves. And Obama and Clinton want to emulate them. Increase Muslim immigration while turning away Christian and Yazidi refugees. And order the FBI and Department of Homeland Security not to spy on Muslims while the IRS targets Jewish charities. (After the San Bernardino massacre, the Obama administration's priority was to protect Muslims from retaliation. The Attorney General threatened to "take action" against anyone who said anything that could be considered "anti-Muslim rhetoric.")

If you take a venomous snake to your bosom, don't feign surprise when you get bitten.

This just in: Disney and Marvel say they will boycott filming in Georgia if religious liberty bill is passed. Unbelievable. And I'll bet we're going to see some of these chuckleheads praising that notion on their Twitters. Then we'll get more praise from the SJWs who have never picked up a comic in their life, but Marvel is trying to please nonetheless. Hope you can cover this in an article.

Good post. It's interesting to see how different writers react to the news. By the way, I just read your post about Kurt Busiek and it was great, I'm actually I big fan of his work. In fact, I've written about Superman: Secret Identity in my blog (wich I encourage you to visit):

I hope you enjoy my review, and please feel free to leave me a comment over there or add yourself as a follower (or both), and I promise I'll reciprocate.

Cheers,

Arion.

Another player against Georgia:

To be clear, DC isn't doing this, their WB masters are, but I can't imagine DC refusing to join in, either.

Love how it's either "celebrate diversity" or "discrimination is bad," until it's against Republicans, conservatives, Southerners, straight white people or white people in general, then discrimination is just fine. And I'd almost be fine with that, if only they'd admit it. But they won't, as being a Leftist means you really can have your cake and eat it, too.

As for what happened to Belgium, these same people will forget or won't admit why these attacks keep happening and, or more cynically, they probably calculate that this is the price to pay for the sweet diversity. So what if people die -- diversity is more important!

Or put another way, to take a Steyn quote, "you may not be interested in Islam, but Islam is interested in you."

America and Europe cannot have any restrictions on immigration, because it might offend Muslims. And the FBI and Department of Homeland Security (and MI5, and the European law enforcement and intelligence agencies) cannot spy on Muslims, because it might hurt their feelings. The politically correct party line is: Better Dead Than Rude.

Isn't there any way to take the "bomb" part out of "suicide bomber" like rationing the parts used to make devices that blow people up or something?

I find it hard to believe that the only terrorists out there are Muslim? What about Irish or Chinese or something else to break up the monotony every once in a while.

Has the NRA actually done anything violent, or are people just jealous of the amount of guns they own?
