Entertainment Weekly announces that at least three stories by DC are being adapted into novels. But all of them are Batman-related:

Batman: The Killing Joke, Batman: The Court of Owls, and Harley Quinn: Mad Love will all be getting novelized adaptations this year, and EW can exclusively reveal the covers.

I can probably see why the Killing Joke is considered iconic, though the way it was developed was disturbing, recalling Len Wein's comments how, as an editor at the time, he said about Babs Gordon, "cripple the bitch", implying dislike for a fictional character that didn't have to be. But the Court of Owls and Harley Quinn stories? What's so great about those very recent items anyway? A story as recent as Court of Owls is hardly what you could call a classic, and sure isn't "iconic".

Maybe what's really head-shaking is that so far, iconic Superman stories, by contrast, haven't been announced as wellsprings for novels, let alone various other major/minor DCU casts and tales who could make interesting candidates for the novelization business. The reliance on Batman and closely related books like Harley Quinn for these mediums is way too easy, and also sad.
