Bounding Into Comics presented another example of an artist working at - you guessed it - DC and the Vertigo line on the Border Town series who made vulgar, racist remarks. He also worked with Gabby Rivera at Marvel, who similarly made racist comments. Here's some chilling examples of what he's mouthed off:
His defense that he's "kidding" falls flat, as does his assertion it's "funny". This is not something to joke about any more than blacks and Asians. Villalobos even attacked Donald Trump:

I don't see why somebody who denigrated white women as much as white men has a problem with their products. This all reeks of fauxtrage.
I don't know who exactly is in charge of the Vertigo line. But whether this is a responsibility for figurehead EIC Bob Harras or somebody else, what remains clear is that Villalobos' immediate superiors are failing to rein in people like him, or worse, refusing.
This kind of conduct explains why DC hasn't been doing well, which Dan DiDio, still the the main figure in charge of the company, doesn't consider. As noted before, he claims "over-saturation", but BIC says:

This behavior has been beyond off-putting and forces people to turn away from the standard industry products.Exactly. At the moment, this is a leading example why more fans have been abandoning the Big Two in favor of smaller publishers. When contributors to a company act so toxic and the upper echelons otherwise refuse to do anything about it, you cannot be surprised all those "over-saturated" products will do better than the real over-saturization, namely the politicized Vertigo products now in preparation, which do no favors for their image, and only confirm that DC's staff is as bad as Marvel's staff, if not more so. As a result, there's a valid case to make why we should boycott the new Vertigo-based products as much as Brian Bendis' take on Superman.
It just seems that with the behavior of Ramon Villalobos, Zoe Quinn, and others, comic book customers are deciding to spend their money elsewhere.
