Keanu Reeves' BRZRKR comic becomes basis for a novel as much as film projects

The National Post reports that actor Keanu Reeves is producing a novel inspired by his comic project, BRZRKR, which will be titled "The Book of Elsewhere":

Keanu Reeves is releasing a novel.

The ‘John Wick’ actor is collaborating with one of his favourite authors, China Miéville, on ‘The Book of Elsewhere’, which is inspired by his own ‘BRZRKR’ comic book series, and he’s excited for fans’ reactions.

In a pre-recorded video aired on ‘Good Morning America’, Keanu said: “The series tells a story of an immortal warrior’s fight through the ages.

“I love the world of ‘BRZRKR’ so much that I wanted to explore it further and thought one of the best ways to do that is through a novel. [...]

In 2021, it was announced that Netflix would develop a live-action film based on the comic book, which Keanu is attached to star in.

As I've noted before, and will again, when Netflix is involved, it does not make me feel encouraged to watch a project like this, though if that's where Reeves' film adaptation will be available, it does suggest not many major studios put much faith in the project to make it a more theatrical release.

All that aside, wow, it honestly sounds like Reeves has gotten too swept up in a vanity project, and it's pretty silly to do it that way, IMO. Of course, the main problem is that BRZRKR wasn't really produced to serve the comics medium foremost, but rather, to serve as Hollywood fodder by extension. And that's not doing much for comicdom's reputation.
