John Arcudi says there's robbers and misogynists in positions of power in comicdom

Via Bounding Into Comics, some tweets by veteran writer John Arcudi, currently working at Dark Horse, who says what anybody's surely guessed has been the norm in comicdom for many years:

I've been aware of that for years already. Not only are there sexists and misogynists in comicdom, they've even conveyed their beliefs into the comics proper, if we take 2004's most notorious "events", Identity Crisis and Avengers: Disassembled, as examples. There's also the Eddie Berganza case. And thieves are running amok too. One of the ways they rob creators is by refusing to reprint their work, as DC and Marvel have refused to do for years when it comes to Bill Messner-Loeb's stories, which have otherwise not been reprinted for years and are still gathering dust on the shelves. I'm sure there's more victims, but that should serve as a telling example for now.

Arcudi also noted the following about the movie based on Dark Horse's Mask from 1994:

That's interesting to know the makers of a movie based on a comic he'd been a contributor to apparently short-changed him as well. It's not just the comics medium proper where thieves and misogynists pose a problem, but also the movie adapters.

The more creators willing to speak up about what goes on inside, the easier it might be to deal with the issues some day.

...and this is news to her? It's a sad fact of life in every position of power.
