Interesting review of Teen Titans #26 Vol. 3

While I am disillusioned with Paperback Reader for the most part these days, here's a pretty interesting review from someone who may be a new staffer on their site, of Teen Titans #26:
Is it just me or is the DC Universe coming around to bite the Kryptonians in ass? As if blowing up their planet wasn’t bad enough, now they’re betraying their friends and teammates against their will. And who knows what’s going on with Power Girl! It is a dark day indeed when you can’t trust someone with an S-shield on his chest.

The Teen Titans book on a whole has been such a downer. Since the first issue there has been none of the light-heartedness that helped define the title when Wolfman and Perez rebooted it back in the 80’s. They always dealt with heavy issues and there was death and tragedy but not the constant angst and drama we see now. Even when something happens that should be a joyous occasion, such as Raven’s resurrection, is marred with dark tidings.
You know, now that I think of it, I do wonder: has the current TT been anything much to speak of? And the best answer I can think of is - probably not.

You could probably say that if anything, it's a weaker effort of Geoff Johns', and given how much he's actually committed himself to all this Infinite Crisis nonsense (probably because that's how he was able to get an editorial job a la E. Nelson Bridwell), that's but one of the biggest problems. In fact, the editorial influence is pretty evident in a lot of their books so far that are dealing with this.

As for Power Girl, at least that I don't think we have to worry too much about, knowing that she's getting her own updating in JSA: Classified very soon.

  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
