Worst comics of the decade

As a decade is about to be filled out, the website of Comics Alliance has written a list of several of the worst from the past 10 years, and here's the second part as well.

This decade has certainly been one of the most dismal for Marvel and DC in particular, and it's going to take a lot if we're to ensure that the next decade to come will see any improvements, if there's still a comics industry at all.

Labels: , , , ,

I was glad to see "Identity Crisis" made the list; interestingly, I happened to see Metzler on Glenn Beck's show on Fox earlier this week. For a guy who wrote something as awful as "IC," I have to say I was impressed with his knowledge of Superman and his take on DC's super-heroes. His views seemed to me to be pretty traditional; it's unfortunate that he couldn't write the characters that way when he was working for DC.

I was glad to see "Identity Crisis" made the list;

Seconded; it's hands down worst written comic of the decade.

Do you have a link to that interview? I'm from Missouri, and BM (appropriate intials, those) strikes me as the kind who thinks comic book readers are idiots who've never heard of logic, nuanced characterization, or the most basic plot devices. It looks like he read a few issues of "Justice League", then threw them aside and said "Heck, they'll take what I give them; I've got a contract."

I would, however, be glad to be proven wrong.

If you took out the titles, they could just as easily be describing many of the so-called 'best' titles.

They pick on the easy, popular (and deserving) target Austen, but I honestly can't see how the current X-Crap is any better. Chuck isn't the darling of the hobby press though, so he gets pooped on while other comic hacks get their asses kissed.

About me

  • I'm Avi Green
  • From Jerusalem, Israel
  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
