Marvel adds insult to injury with newest sensational announcement
Senior Vice President of sales at Marvel Comics David Gabriel announced that Marvel is planning to kill a major character every quarter. He also added "this is not a joke."Regardless, it's not funny, and it's not polite either. They can say what they like, but that only enforces the view that these are not being done for story value, but for shock and publicity's sake. It should also be enough to tell anyone that Marvel does not deserve our money if this is all they're going to do.
They have really scraped bottom this time.

Oh goody I wonder how long until the rest follow?

What is more insulting: the fact they have to stress "This Is Serious Business," the fact Marvel usually ends up reviving the characters they kill off or the basic "Screw You" to fans of whomever they kill off. Or, worse, in that every fan will be on pins and needles, worrying "is my favorite B or C-lister, next?"
Man, Mark Gruenwald must be spinning in his grave... for the 999th time.

I literally can't bring myself to get upset anymore. This is how little I care, when this should have led to an immediate ranting article. Frankly, that may be the best way to approach this. When "they" have decided that bad reactions are the same as good ones, not reacting at all may be the only way to snap them out of this garbage.

Collectively, we're becoming apathetic. And yet, I do worry that for all our complaining, has any of it changed in that 'killing them off in the first place?'
Oh, well.
Anyway, Shadow Wing, I already dropped my contact info in a previous post, but in case you missed it as it was bumped. Here is my email, again. (Make sure teh subject line is recognizable, per my spam censors.)

Well, Johnny's dead, so who's next? Any bets? I'm going for Hank Pym, myself. He hasn't had a major death in recent years, has he?

Mark Grunwald is rolling over in his grave.
You know Comics could be seen as a legit art and lit medium if it wasn't for stuff like this.
I mean Neil Gaiman once won a fantasy award for Sandman when nothing but books had and that tells me something.
and as long as stuff like this continues comics never will be seen in the form that they should be

I'd like to take this time to announce my newest campaign- Fire A Writer A Month.
Who will get the axe? Bendis, Millar, Fraction, Ennis...So many choices, so many months of unemployment mayhem!

I choose Ennis to be first, as "why does someone who hates mainstream comics write them so often?"
And his independent stuff isn't that impressive, either.
