Gene Colan, 1926-2011
Clifford Meth reports that artist Gene Colan, who co-created the Falcon with Stan Lee in 1969, has sadly passed away at age 84. He'll be missed.

I especially remember his Wonder Woman and Daredevil stints. Good stuff, good artist.
He also did an issue in Archie's Ninja Turtles Adventures, which I still remember fondly.

I was just reading some Essential Daredevil with Colan art. One of the greats.
Comic art looks all the same to me these days, I miss the old guys that had their own style that you could pick out without seeing the name. Everyone's a Jim Lee clone now.

Agreed, degu -- those DD Essentials with his art are killer. And don't forget those Tales of Suspense (Iron Man) issues he did, along with the iconic Iron Man #1 cover!!

I'll always remember his work on TOMB OF DRACULA. Probably the most amazing artwork I've ever seen in comics.
