Brian Azzarello turning Wonder Woman into horror thriller

The Coventry Telegraph spoke with him at the Wizard World Chicago convention, and in a statement that reeks of shock tactic, he says they're going to turn WW's series into a horror story:

So how will DC's new beginning affect him and how he'll handle Wonder Woman? "I can only speak for myself, were doing a soft reboot, we're not getting rid of her history or anything like that."On the contrary, I think it'll make it one of the most alienating. It only furthers the overabundance of comics with overly dark viewpoints, and while WW under Perez did have some scary moments, it still wasn't geared full force into the horror genre. An optimistic viewpoint is what made it work, just like for Superman.
He then adds, with a little reassurance and a laugh: "People need to relax, she's not wearing pants. But it's not going to be a superhero book. I can guarantee you that, it's not a superhero book. It's a horror book."
Wonder Woman in a horror book written by Brian Azzarello definitely sounds like a departure from the norm. But one that I agree the character needs and could prove to be one of the 52's most interesting.

So, I take it this scuttles the JMS-led hard reboot from a year or so ago?
The problem with Wonder Woman is that they drastically change the status quo every few months. Before JMS, wasn't she an ambassador for Paradise Island for a while? And before that, they had one led by a novelist where they dropped the storyline literally in the middle of it without any resolution.
An ever-changing status quo with typical shoddy execution probably hasn't helped this book. I doubt Azzarello will change that any.

And I second what Drizzt said. Of course, Wonder Woman should be a horror thriller -- what else would it be? "Not a superhero book," no, of course not.
I love comic book company logic.
