Then, she said the following about Orson Scott Card, who's been given the task of writing digital Superman stories:
Would she say the same thing if a Muslim writer who was anti-gay were hired to work on the project? I'm skeptical she ever would. Since we're on the subject, there appears to be a minor outrage from anti-conservatives, supposedly Superman fans, who don't want a conservative writer of Card's standing to work on the Man of Steel, not even on a digital-based project. Bleeding Cool wisely refrained from supporting the calls for a campaign to have Card fired. If they don't want to spend their money on the digital comics, that's one thing. But calling for getting a writer fired simply because of his conservative views on marriage and such is wrong and foolish.
However, I suspect if a conservative writer dared to tweet something negative about a liberal writer, DC would be more than willing to boot them out. Simone clearly sees Card as an easy target. That's why I no longer have much use for her writing.

To think I used to like Gail Simone, when she worked on Birds of Prey... well, she's probably jealous that Orson Scott Card is a much, much better writer than she ever has been. He did do Ultimate Iron Man several years ago and I don't recall anyone moaning about his views back then.
I didn't know Card was one of us, so that's good.
"Anti-gay activism," eh? If it isn't screaming "pro-gay," then, by Simone's logic, it has to be anti-gay? I see. As the new logic goes: if you don't endorse something, then you're, therefore, must be against it. And people are forced into positions that they just have to think or get around to thinking about it, later. No, it has to be 'Now, now, now.'
Good pointing out the double standard, as "would she say that of a Muslim writer?" The more I read about this woman, the less I like her. Or, to be honest, I always knew there was something hinky with her, and now I know why.
Is Card's writing any good? If Simone is whining about him, her fellow DC employee, then I must read it. Heh.

Killer Moth: although I didn't read Card's Ultimate Iron Man series (not being a fan of the Ultimate Universe), he is an excellent writer. Check out the Ender's Game series and Pastwatch: the Redemption of Christopher Columbus sometime.
And yeah, that's the new "logic." If you don't endorse something, people assume you're against it and automatically throw out the immature epithets like "racist" and whatever "phobe." It's another example of the left's irrationality and inability to have an intelligent debate.
Screw Simone. Card is a Mormon, if memory serves. That's probably what pisses her off more than anything else. His Ender's Game is soon to be a major film, and like Carl, I thought his Pastwatch novel was sensational. While I didn't care for Ultimate Iron Man, I have to admit the story was inventive.
Simone is just miffed that Card has a big title, and she's got the shitty Occupy comic. Which'll be canned in less than a dozen issues since no one gives a shit about those a-holes anymore. I mean, hello? Timing is everything. Simone and DC -- you're around two years late, dopes.
Exactly right, Hube. No one gives a damn about the Occupy movement anymore. They're pretty much dead now.

The only thing to care about the Occupy movement, is the clear double standard between a genuine grassroots movement like the Tea Party, vs. the manufactured, by-the-numbers "movement," like Occupy.
And since Simone is such the traditional feminist, anyone care to tell her about the rape tents in Occupy? Just offering a suggestion.
Card isn't a conservative. He's one of those near-mythical "moderate Democrats" who is also a Mormon.
Just goes to show the intolerance toward dissent that underlies so-called Progressivism. People like Card and Joe Lieberman are, to them, diseases to be eradicated rather than allies who vote their way 90+% of the time.
The "tolerant" Left is already out in force regarding Orson Scott Card. Check it.

Scott isn't anti-gay because he doesnt endorse gays, its because:
In 2009, Card became a member of the board of directors of the National Organization for Marriage, a group that seeks to prevent the legalization of same-sex marriage.
Card has publicly declared his disapproval of homosexuality and of gay marriage. In 1990, Card called for laws that ban consensual homosexual acts to "remain on the books... to be used when necessary to send a clear message that those who flagrantly violate society's regulation of sexual behavior cannot be permitted to remain as acceptable, equal citizens within that society"
Card has voiced his opinion that paraphilia and homosexuality are sometimes linked. In a 2004 essay entitled "Homosexual 'Marriage' and Civilization", Card wrote:
The dark secret of homosexual society—the one that dares not speak its name—is how many homosexuals first entered into that world through a disturbing seduction or rape or molestation or abuse, and how many of them yearn to get out of the homosexual community and live normally.
