A Soho panel against Orson Scott Card

In another example of gay activists trying to hijack famous pop culture, the Soho Gallery for Digital Art is holding a discussion panel titled "Superman vs. Orson Scott Card" on April 10:
Panelists David Gerrold, Joe Illidge, Paul Kupperberg and Danny Fingeroth will discuss the hiring of Orson Scott Card, an anti-gay activist, to write a Superman story. In one corner, Superman: Last Son of Krypton, who has powers and abilities far greater than those of mortal men, and who fights for truth, justice and the American Way. In the other corner, Orson Scott Card, NY times bestselling author of ENDER'S GAME (soon to be a major motion picture) and many other novels, who has equated homosexuality with pedophilia and strongly opposes same-sex marriage.
It sounds from that announcement like they're already damning Card and with a title like that, it's a sad bet this will end up becoming an exploitation of the Man of Steel's image against the writer. One of the commentors on the Superman Homepage says:
Orson Scott Card has never equated homosexuality with pedophilia. In fact, from his fiction I would never have thought he was anti gay at all, since all of his gay characters I've read about are portrayed sympathetically.
And another says:
I agree. I have read all of his Ender series as well as several others. He does not attack gays or portray them as pedophiles.
Which means this is all merely an effort to dictate who's worthy or not of writing the adventures of heroes who don't belong to them. In fact, there's a very probable chance some of the Card haters are exactly the same people who lead lives as obsessive collectors for perceived monetary value instead of basing their hobby on story value. Not to mention the kind of people who embarrass objections to terrible publicity stunts by continuing to buy the products even as they raise stinks about it.

Kupperberg and Fingeroth are two industry veterans I know of. I can only wonder what either, or both, of these two will say about Card, whether it'll be positive or negative. With the kind of title they're giving this lecture, I doubt it'll be very fair, and the biggest victims could be Siegel and Shuster, whom none of the so-called fans seem to have much respect for.

Talk about obsessive. Okay, the comic Left doesn't like the guy, you don't have to hold a tribunal or a panel over it.

I hope Fingeroth doesn't say anything leftist or inane, I kinda like him. Sighs.

So, anytime a new Chuck Dixon or name your center right writer is hired, we have to have a panel now? Yet a Simone or a Bendis, well, "come on in!"

Comment almost got stuck in spam filter, but I fixed it.
