The Four Color Media Monitor

Because if we're going to try and stop the misuse of our favorite comics and their protagonists by the companies that write and publish them, we've got to see what both the printed and online comics news is doing wrong. This blog focuses on both the good and the bad, the newspaper media and the online websites. Unabashedly. Unapologetically. Scanning the media for what's being done right and what's being done wrong.

Tim Seeley thinks comics can't influence children in the wrong way

The writer of comics like Hack/Slash doesn't think entertainment has any impact on the mind and how people think, as he claims in a conversation about the MRC's article on the whitewashed presentation of LGBT issues in comics:

By that logic, if communism, fascism, marxism and socialism were taught as role models or presented in a perfectly superficial, unobjective light in comics, they wouldn't have any effect on what children think either. Come to think of it, they wouldn't even have any impact on how adults think. I don't for even a second think that even grownup minds are incorruptible, and a pity if Seeley thinks otherwise.

If the commies could teach youngsters under their control that their ideologies were perfectly acceptable, then we shouldn't think it isn't possible for leftists in other countries to do something similar. It's happening now, and unless parents take the responsibility of teaching their children how to withstand such a barrage of propaganda, they can unfortunately fall prey to all those horrible untruths socialists seek to indoctrinate them with.

Everything someone sees, reads or hears affects how they think to at least some tiny degree. Mix that with the will and that's how personalities and opinions are formed. Duplicate it in a form of mass media and it will have a greater overall effect on the populace. It's called developmental psychology, dumbbells.

Then again, if someone doesn't believe homosexuality or whatever else are harmful, then of course they wouldn't consider exposing kids to be 'warping' them.

Anyone (like Seeley) who doesn't think that the media can't have any effect on how children think is delusional. They're younger and far easier to manipulate than adults are.
