The Rick Remender/Falcon controversy
A storm erupted over a story Remender allegedly wrote in the umpteenth Capt. America volume, where Falcon supposedly had sex with a minor. The Daily Dot says it wasn't the travesty it might've been, and Jet Zola is actually 23 here.
So maybe the people on Twitter outraged about this overreacted. And maybe a hashtag like "#firerickremender" isn't the way to go. (A better one could be "#boycottbadcomics".) However, Remender still isn't a very good writer. He was the same one who wrote the issues of Uncanny Avengers that saw Scarlet Witch, Rogue and another X-Man wiped out, and recently wrote a story in the 10th issue that pointlessly saw Sharon Carter being rubbed out again. And I don't see the point in replacing Steve Rogers again as Capt. America; the whole idea Remender's using is long outdated.

Even with the drek being published these days, I doubt that Marvel (or DC) would be stupid enough to publish a story that condoned any kind of rape, either forcible or "just" statutory. And I doubt that Remender would be stupid enough to submit such a script in the first place.
But the whole Dimension Z gimmick seems like a convenient deus ex machina to age Jet Zola so that she could be an adult, and therefore a potential love interest for an adult male character.
And, if it was not clear in the first place that she was an adult, then the story was not well-written.
And killing off Sharon Carter and replacing Steve Rogers as Captain America are both plot devices that have been done to death.

There's a good reason why people get touchy over sexualised teenagers. It's one thing to explore sexuality with a lot of care, it's another to release that not only most teenagers aren't legal age, they aren't mature yet to fully understand the things that they are doing or going through such as sexuality.
