Phil Hester downplays the medium's downside

Artist Hester recently said:

That's about as clever as saying "it's only movies". Nobody with half a brain is saying Hollywood isn't twisted like a poisoned pretzel, but to say some people reading and working in comics aren't debased is ignorance. Some of that larger culture he speaks of may have influenced comics culture too. I suggest he criticize all the Slotts, Marzs, Meltzers, DiDios, Quesadas, Remenders, Simones, Brevoorts, Snyders and Alonsos shaming comicdom with their debased politics and storytelling before he argues the larger culture he doesn't name is the only stunted segment out there.

About me

  • I'm Avi Green
  • From Jerusalem, Israel
  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
