Phil Hester downplays the medium's downside

That's about as clever as saying "it's only movies". Nobody with half a brain is saying Hollywood isn't twisted like a poisoned pretzel, but to say some people reading and working in comics aren't debased is ignorance. Some of that larger culture he speaks of may have influenced comics culture too. I suggest he criticize all the Slotts, Marzs, Meltzers, DiDios, Quesadas, Remenders, Simones, Brevoorts, Snyders and Alonsos shaming comicdom with their debased politics and storytelling before he argues the larger culture he doesn't name is the only stunted segment out there.
