Mary Jane Watson among ComicBook's top 5 redheads

ComicBook posted a slideshow of 5 redheads in comics, and they even thought to add Mary Jane Watson to the mix. Unfortunately, they have nothing critical to say about Marvel's heavy handed editorial mandate that marginalized her status. All they really have to say is:
Although their marriage had its ups and downs, it seemed like nothing could break the two of them apart for long...until Peter exchanged his marriage to Mephisto (the devil of the Marvel Universe) in exchange for saving Aunt May's life. With their relationship annulled, Mary Jane remains an occasional member of Peter's life, although she's largely moved away from his superhero lifestyle. Mary Jane's about to appear in Brian Bendis's new Iron Manseries, working for Tony Stark in an as of yet unknown capacity.
I'm sorry, but no sale on Bendis' IM, which is bound to have as poor a perspective on women as his previous Marvel iterations. So this is all they can say? Nothing objective to give anybody an idea what was wrong with One More Day or why making faustian pacts is so awful? Not a single critical word about Quesada's embarrassing MO? Then what's the point of this little list they gave? They've just proven they have no faith in these creations if they can't be objective at a time when writing quality is terrible.

Nothing about the other 4 women?

About me

  • I'm Avi Green
  • From Jerusalem, Israel
  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
