What were Zdarsky and Waid thinking?

So cartoonist Chip Zdarsky won a Harvey award for drawing humor comics, as Mark Waid advertises here:

If only I could congratulate him, but there's just one little problem, evidenced by the next tweet Waid provided:

I don't know what the joke is here, but I'm not laughing. Of all the places where Zdarsky could take the award plaque to celebrate by photographing it, he (and Waid) had to place it next to Bill Cosby's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Long after Cosby was unmasked as a serial rapist for nearly 5 decades, and maybe more? What kind of repellent sense of humor does Zdarsky have, acting as though it's great to take pictures of the plaque next to something that's been tarnished? He may not think so, but he's practically awarding Cosby in turn by implying he's one of the few people left who still admires a stunningly perverse man who hurt the lives of many women over the course of at least 40 years, including Zdarsky's fellow Canadian, Andrea Constand, who worked as a basketball coach at my parents' alma mater, Temple University. Does he realize how inconsiderate his creepy little stunt is to Cosby's many victims? Does even Waid, for that matter? The star tile in Hollywood should be removed, just like 95 percent of Cosby's other honors were rescinded, but the LA mayor's office said they don't do that, even though it's very embarrassing to keep an item honoring a man who never deserved it in place.

After discovering Zdarsky/Waid's latest little stunt, I've only lost more respect for them. Cosby's already had charges filed against him that should've been posted years ago, and his prosecution for the crimes he committed looks very imminent, as does a potential jail sentence. Yet they see fit to make what looks like a "cute" joke? Let's be clear: there's nothing amusing about taking a picture of an award placed next to a star dedicated to a man who turned out to be a sexual tyrant. Putting the Harvey award plaque next to the star of a man so vile does nothing to convince they realize the seriousness of the topic, nor why it's disrespectful to the victims. And Zdarsky/Waid have only given a new, more terrible meaning to bad taste. This also contradicts their stance on Gamergate, proving they're not altruistic.

Update: Zdarsky told me he had nothing to do with the particular picture Waid tweeted. If not, then I'll apologize for any misunderstandings, but want to make clear that Waid still has to shoulder some responsibility here for doing something embarrassing and ghastly, which only did a disfavor to Zdarksy. On which note, I'd suggest Waid apologize to Zdarsky for posting the picture, also because Cosby shouldn't be given any favors after what he was discovered doing for many years behind the scenes and the public's back.

...you really can't separate creation from creator, can you? And besides, how many of those star tiles have squeaky-clean records behind them anyway?
