A Czech writer's comics and novels make a comeback

Radio Prague wrote about the comeback of Rapid Arrows, a comics adventure by Jaroslav Foglar, a Czech refugee from both nazis and communists in the early 20th century who was also a novelist, and whose comics developed a following among the local crowds in eastern Europe.

Speaking of foreign comics, are there any non-UK comics you know of and enjoy? I mean there are plenty of them out there besides the Smurfs which you know and loath: Asterix, Blacksad, XIII, Iznogoud, Gaston, Spirou et Fantasio, the Adventures of Tintin, etc.
