The Four Color Media Monitor

Because if we're going to try and stop the misuse of our favorite comics and their protagonists by the companies that write and publish them, we've got to see what both the printed and online comics news is doing wrong. This blog focuses on both the good and the bad, the newspaper media and the online websites. Unabashedly. Unapologetically. Scanning the media for what's being done right and what's being done wrong.

CBR's worst SJW writer turns against Dan Slott

Well it looks like the SJWs in the comics press are coming next for ultra-leftist Dan Slott, as CBR's Kieran Shiach is accusing the maltreater of Mary Jane Watson of racism in the 2nd Fantastic Four issue he's written:

He didn't seem to stress why he thought it was "racist" beyond just the mere skin color of the alien, and what's really puzzling is that he seems to have missed a more valid point: it's embarrassing to have an adult figure asking an underaged girl like Valeria to become a consort. Why does racism matter here but not whether the scene reeks of pederasty? I don't get this.

But what I do get is that Slott, once favored by the left, is now losing his treasured status among them, and it could be due to his failure to sell comics at the store, as it appears nobody's buying his work on FF.

Since we're on the subjects, I also found 2 recent tweets by another SJW, Jennifer deGuzman, who's working as an editor at Slave Labor Graphics, who had the following to say about veteran Gerry Conway, suggesting he's falling out of favor with the left too:

So she thinks Conway's being that awful, huh? Well we opponents of Marvel's terrible modern ultra-leftism knew that for years already, and think it's sad, though it appears Ms. deGuzman's newfound disdain for Conway might stem from other reasons.

In fact, let's also add one more item deGuzman posted, about the cancellation of Chelsea Cain's planned Vision miniseries:

Umm, I believe the company and its upper echelons did by approving his step, not Cebulski himself. If they'd wanted to, they could surely have prevented him from writing the assignments under an Asian pen name. Get your facts straight, please. All that aside, she's coming to realize Marvel's editorial really has become sexist as can be, their liberalism notwithstanding? If she's smart, she might ponder whether leftism is just a dishonest facade that doesn't practice as it preaches. But alas, the chances of that are minimal, if we know what these clowns are like.

Still, this provides an intriguing picture into how one group of SJWs are turning against another set, giving a further idea of where the whole medium is sadly headed. The question remaining is whether it'll be possible to pick up the pieces and rebuild for the better someday.

They did not approve his step. They did not know about it.

Cebulski used a pseudonym so that the company and the upper echelons would not know it was him. There was a rule that staff could not submit freelance scripts, and he used a fake identity to get around the rule. It was a form of double dipping, and the whole purpose of the fake name was to keep the secret from the upper echelons.

Oh yeah, like CBR's the most "reliable" news source to depend upon, whoever you are. Considering they've been among the most hostile to consumers lately, and even did a terrible disfavor to Alterna's publisher, I don't see why everything they say should be taken at face value. In case you haven't noticed, I linked back to an earlier post I did about Cebulski's case that indicates Marvel's staff were aware, and even the CBR post seems to suggest somebody knew Cebulski was using a pen name. I don't take anything CBR says at immediate face value.

That's not a defense of Cebulski, BTW, but it should make clear I don't buy everything such a horrible site says because of how much they disrespect the audiences. Find another site's comments section to bore instead.

A few years have passed since the last issue of the old Fantastic Four title. Valera and Franklin have aged a bit, and she is not supposed to be a little girl anymore. It is not clear how old she is, but she is not a child. (pederasty, by the way, usually only applies to men and boys).
