France's big love for comics

France 24 has a video about how comics (usually referred to in the French language as bande dessinee) are a huge part of their culture, and in contrast to the US, they seem to be building up or holding far more steady as the years have gone by.

There are no French superhero comics, apart from the ones translated from the American. They have no end of adventure stories, lots of humour and serious adult stories, but no masked costumed adventurers.
I thought you didn't care one lick about French/Belgian comics? You certainly complained about one in particular in the past.
