A comic set in Sacramento uses current events as a backdrop, but what and how?
A born-and-raised Sacramentan is taking his love and knowledge of the city to the realm of superheroes with a comic series highlighting what makes the area unique.Unfortunately, it looks like there's some bad news around the corner here:
Brent Trayce Sands, creator of Impound Comics, believes Sacramento — particularly its MMA scene — isn't getting the attention it deserves. In comes superhero Impound, a single father and struggling MMA fighter who one day gains superpowers, which the character sees as his big break.
Outside of mixed martial arts, the comic book series will also draw from some of Sacramento's actual history. Sands said there will be landmarks, businesses and actual events that people local to the area would recognize instantly.
So far, two books have been released: "The Origin of Impound #1" and "Seraph #1." While the first book focused heavily on introduction, Sands said the second one, which he recently announced was released, begins around the time of the police custody death of George Floyd.I checked on his site, and spotted an illustration of a Black Lives Matter protest, suggesting that, if the writer's politics are what I think they could be, this is going to be hugely disappointing news, to learn that an ideologue is producing yet another item that could lionize an offensive, embarrassing movement that's caused nothing but trouble, and the alleged victims of racial issues BLM used as representatives of their "cause" have all turned out to be involved in criminal activity in some way or other. If the Impound comic going forward won't address any of this, it'll be a telling example of an indie comic published for whitewashing and promoting leftist causes. We really don't need the medium being used as a tool for such leftist propaganda.
"At some point, there's gonna be rioting," Sands said. "You'll see Kicx Unlimited or something like that being looted ... I'm trying to make the world more realistic that way — make it with current events."

Yeah... just cos it is indy does not mean it is to be trusted. And there is some MMA guy calling out woke sports for their bs. But here we have a narrative red pilled MMA comic.
