Baltimore comicon hosts a most unwelcome guest
Comic book lovers and collectors alike will have the opportunity this weekend to see rare items and props, such as actor Chris Evans’ Captain America shield from the “Avengers: End Game” movie and hear from the likes of Marvel comic book artist Joe Quesada at the 22nd annual Baltimore Comic-Con at the Baltimore Convention Center. This man went to such lengths not just to throw out the Spider-marriage with bath water, something even today hasn't been completely mended, but also drove up the number of company wide crossovers and other "events" taking place within a single year, turned Captain America soft on Islamic terrorism, and even went out of his way to make leftist politics more alienatingly noticeable, and the directors of this convention have the gall to obscure all his worst steps? Sales weren't helped by Quesada's machinations either, since Spidey's numbers did fall by that time, and while Marvel did recently take steps to reverse half of Quesada's mandate, it's too little, too late, at a time when many Marvel fans rightfully quit reading their output (and there's plenty of readers who've also stopped reading DC). Quesada wasn't even a very good artist, recalling some of his past artwork was mediocre at best.
[...] Tischler pointed out another highlight of the show this year is the appearence of Joe Quesada, comic book artist, writer, editor, and television producer.
“It’s a pretty big deal,” Tischler said. “He was a Marvel executive and a lot of what he did resulted in positive turns for the company.”
When so-called pop culture specialists begin sugarcoating the people most responsible for dumbing down entertainment, what's the use of attending their conventions if they won't be honst? Something tells me no meaty questions will ever be asked of Quesada, nor will any be allowed by the directors. And if not, what's the point of all this? The damage wrought by Quesada is so huge, it'll take eternities to ever repair it, yet these convention managers are clearly uninterested in all that.
