Forbes reports the live action remake of Snow White - that doesn't directly mention the 7 dwarves - continues its flounder at the box office with a steep drop of almost 70 percent:

Early projections for the second weekend of Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot’s Snow White were apparently a bit too optimistic and Jason Statham’s A Working Man is stepping up to take advantage of it.

The $270 million live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1937 classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs opened far below early tracking projections last weekend to the tune of $42.2 million.

Yup, and we have Rachel Zegler's obsessive, heavy-handed political lecturing to blame for that. On which note, the NY Post says son of producer Marc Platt also took issue with her, putting plenty of blame at Zegler's feet for leading to this cinema travesty:

The son of “Snow White” producer Marc Platt slammed Rachel Zegler, 23, as “immature” and narcissistic after it was revealed his father flew to New York to speak to the film’s lead actress when she went political on X.

Jonah Platt, 38, brother of actor Ben Platt, issued a scathing response to one negative commenter on his Instagram. [...]

He made it clear that Zegler’s “actions clearly hurt the film’s box office.” While “Snow White” was No. 1 during its debut weekend, it grossed $87 million worldwide — a paltry amount for its $270 million budget.

“Free speech does not mean you’re allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions,” Platt continued. “Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful.”

He ended his lengthy rant by stating, “Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”

Absolutely not. When a performer does what Zegler did, you need to do everything possible to put a stop to the PR humiliation she caused, and minimize the damage. I don't think Disney's executives did a good enough job in that regard. There need to be guidelines in place from top to bottom that actors must avoid political statements and limit their PR to promotion only. And Disney's left-wing employees must reevaluate their positions and not let "loyalty to a cause" get in the way of common sense.

I will give Disney's staff credit for providing Gal Gadot with extra security after Zegler's comments led to incitement against Gadot online. But it's clear anybody who's going to lead to such disturbing situations is unemployable, and that's why Zegler can't be considered a worthy hire for Hollywood. Not that I think much of Gadot's resume either, but this is why her career will at least have more longevity than Zegler's. And Disney must stop with the obsession of turning their classic cartoons into live action farces. All they're doing is diminishing the quality of the original classics for the sake of a laughable project that doesn't do justice for the originals.
