Even in Britain, there's specialty auctions
0 Comments Published by Avi Green on Monday, September 08, 2025 at 11:03 PM.Hundreds of 1960s comic books are set to be auctioned later this month, with an estimated total value of up to £7,000.And they're going to be sold to the highest bidder and locked away in vaults till they're sold round and round again, huh? Unfortunately, even in the UK, that's likely to end up being the case, when here, they have a chance to donate them to a local arts museum instead, and everyone can see these famous old treasures of the 20th century for themselves. This continues to do a disfavor for Stan Lee's resume, and it's tiring decades ago how auctions keep making headlines like these, when the buyers have no interest in purchasing these so they can build up a history display for museums.
The line-up is made up mostly of Marvel comics and is due to go under the hammer in Lichfield, Staffordshire, on 29 September.
Superheroes featured include Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the Silver Surfer, X-Men, the Avengers, the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Sub-Mariner, Doctor Strange, Daredevil and Thor.
There are more than 50 lots - with highlights including the Fantastic Four #48, #49 and #50, which feature the first appearances of the Silver Surfer and Galactus, valued at between £400 and £600.
Labels: Avengers, Captain America, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Europe and Asia, Fantastic Four, history, Hulk, marvel comics, msm propaganda, sales, Spider-Man, Thor, X-Men
