How to place the wings on winged humanoids and other characters who fly

Doc Rampage explains just how to put wings on humanoids, and towards the end, how this helps comic book artists to draw flying, winged girls well.

It's a good argument, but, from what I can tell, it sounds like what he's saying is that the wings be placed on sides of the body, not the back, like it is for Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

For that reason, I'd strongly recommend that, when you draw women in comics with wings, that it be done the way it's done with Hawkgirl. It works quite well that way.

Back of the Envelope seems to agree.

I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
