Comic Book Carnival Twenty-Three

Welcome to the August 7, 2008 edition of the comic book carnival. Let's see what we got here for this month.

Tali presents Pop Art Pinup Girls posted at Tali, saying, "It’s true that mostly, pinup girls are considered a low art, at times completely thought of as porn. Today we talk a little about pinups in Pop Art- a highly respected art movement."

Patricia Twitchell presents The Adventures of Penny Pincher: Penny Pincher Finds A Home posted at Just Bears and Stuff, saying, "Not long ago or far away there was a beautiful teddy bear who sat on a shelf in a quaint gift shop located in the beautiful mountains of Southern Oregon. This unique teddy bear was waiting for someone to buy him and give him a home. This lovely bear was no ordinary bear. His stomach fur was a lovely shade of light brown that appeared almost cream color, surrounded by striking black fur with honey colored ears, nose and feet and his eyes were warm and kind. He had a wonderfully wise look on his face.

Join in on the Adventures of Penny Pincher as he finds a home and experiences lots of exciting journeys."

Tali presents Manga and Anime Pinups - More than Big Tits and Big Eyes posted at Tali, saying, "Manga and Anime is ripe with unaware good girls and deliberately sultry bad women. This is a short salute to my personal favorite artists and characters."

My Top Ten presents My Top Ten Joker Quotes posted at My Top Ten, saying, "In honor of the upcoming release of the Dark Knight here is a list of my favorite Joker Quotes from the Dark Knight. Batman Begins remains one of my favorite films since the OG Batman back in the day. It will be exciting to see how Heath Ledger will compare to Jack Nicholson in the upcoming days. I missed the press screening for this film. I had a family emergency so please don’t send me hate mail and know that the tickets went to a good cause. I decided to toss a little teaser in before my list of quotes."

Steve Lafler presents El Vocho #11 posted at El Vocho, saying, "Graphic Novelist Steve Lafler offers this romantic thriller."

About me

  • I'm Avi Green
  • From Jerusalem, Israel
  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
