What's the whole point?
DC really are bringing Barry Allen back for good?
Update: plenty of the commentors at Comics Should be Good don't see the point of undoing Barry's death either, and also don't seem enthusiastic about Flash: Rebirth. When Hal Jordan was brought back four years ago, there was certainly a good reason why, because he needed redemption, but here there's no such justification. I do think that this miniseries should be met with indifference if a message is to be sent that if there's any death in comics most people aren't asking to undo, it's Barry's. And maybe with any luck, if that's what's needed, it'll happen, that Flash: Rebirth won't get such a great reception.
News of Barry Allen's return to the DC Universe was initially reported in the New York Daily News in April, but his "return" was seen by many fans as probably being temporary, since the character has time-traveled into DC Comics quite a few times since his death. But this announcement today indicates comic book readers better get used to seeing a new Flash around, and the two guys who revived Green Lantern will be the ones bringing him back for good.I should've known. Nothing is sacred anymore. Absolutely nothing. There's something seriously wrong if and when the decently written deaths are undone while the ones that were badly written are left that way.
