If Guardians of the Galaxy film gets made, it'll be a comedy?

According to Latino Review, if Disney/Marvel go ahead with a possible Guardians of the Galaxy film, it'll be a comedy. But if the following is accurate, I am not impressed by 2 of the actors they're seeking:
Come to think of it, a movie based on Guardians shouldn't even be a comedy per se. Of course it should have comedic moments, but the genre itself is something they should decidedly refrain from.
Marvel is asking for the availability of both Jim Carrey AND Adam Sandler! Now Carrey I could probably be fine with, and he did once star in a comedy based on a comic (The Mask), but Sandler's one of the most repellant performers I know of, and made some of the most vulgar films to come down the pike in the past 2 decades. He should most definitely not be allowed anywhere near a movie adaptation like this.

Labels: marvel comics

Given that early rumors have it as a direct lead-in to Avengers 2 (and thus, Thanos as villain), I doubt it'll be a comedy.
Maybe they confused it with Edgar Wright's Ant Man? Though given Marvel's history of (relative) cheapness toward actors, I doubt they'd shell out the $$$ for Carrey or Sandler, let alone both.
I don't think it'll be a comedy. Jim Carrey I don't mind, since like you said, he was in The Mask.... he just has a tendency to play the same character in every movie he's in. Adam Sandler does, too, but I find him to be rather repulsive.
Here's something I should've remembered: he (Carrey, that is) played the Riddler in Batman Forever. Then again, I didn't like that movie, so that's probably why i forgot.
