Tom Spurgeon also turns against Orson Scott Card
Even the tweets of a "journalist" on comics can be worth checking out, and Spurgeon, who used to work for publications like The Comics Journal, has sometimes given telling signals what side of the spectrum he takes, and the following is but an example of his own leftism:
It's becoming pretty predictable for people like him to react like that. Someone asked him why nobody made this kind of a fuss when Card scripted Ultimate Iron Man for Marvel. I've been thinking the same thing - why only now does it matter to the politically correct crowd?

Maybe people are mad because what Superman represents is sooooo far away from Card's insane, homophobic views and Iron Man has NOTHING to do with social progression the way Superman does. Plus, Ultimate Iron Man was godawful so there's that side of it too. And c'mon bro, "journalist"? Get that weak shit off my track.

Gee, isn't it obvious why I used the quotations? I don't consider Spurgeon a truly dedicated journalist, at least not if he's going to take the kind of positions he does.

People didn't cause as much fuss over Iron Man because his views weren't as widely known then, and a lot of social media sites like twitter were either not around or less prevalent. He also wasn't on the board of NOM at the time, and gay marriage wasn't as widely supported as it is now. Apparently you weren't "thinking" very hard.

You all need to take a page from what left-of-center creators like Mark Millar have said about this controversy: Don't like Card? Don't buy his stuff. But don't try to get him fired over it, because the next guy may be someone you like and appreciate.
