New Man of Steel movie uses a "gritty" setting
The film follows in the modern tradition of the naturalistic superhero movies. It takes place in a gritty-looking, color-drained world of grays, brown and icy blues. All the better to set off that red cape, perhaps.A cape, which I noticed looks kinda darker in shade too, and I recall that the red tights were omitted to boot, as part of yet another absurdist editorial mandate. I really don't find the news of what this "brave" new world for Superman is like very enthusing, and even in the Marvel universe, I've never thought that kind of angle very helpful for each and every hero and title. It sounds like they've become so obsessed with their idea of what constitutes "natural" they can't fully respect the fantasy aspects anymore.
When the movie comes out, I'll try to see what it's like, and similarly, the next Marvel-based movies as well. But with the recent news of what some of these latest adaptations are like, I'm not holding my breath.
Labels: dc comics, msm propaganda, Superman
I have no worries. I went back and tried to watch Donner's movies... UGH. Never again. Superman Returns would've been OK if it was about 6 hours shorter. I've loved the DK movies from Nolan so I'm ready to roll on with this one.
