Ender's Game producers going to SDCC without Orson Scott Card

In another show of cowardice and political correctness, the producers of the Ender's Game movie won't be bringing Orson Scott Card to the San Diego Comicon with them. Granted, there is the unfortunate potential that some hoodlums would try to incite and attack him at the convention, so they may not want him facing danger. But it's still serious capitulation to PC that they're all but leaving Card out of their promotion tour.

That told, the SDCC has long ceased to be significant for comics, as movies and music have long taken up much of the proceedings there, so while there could always be plenty of sci-fi movies worth consideration out there, they really belong in their own convention, and not in one that was supposed to be for comics, and isn't so much today.

Agreed... on one end, it's a smart move, because he could very well be attacked by lunatics not unlike the anti-Card moonbats who showed up here a few months ago. At the same time, it does sound like they're kowtowing to PC, if they don't want to be associated with him at all. Never mind that it is his book.

I plan on seeing the movie, but might wait until it's on DVD just in case any anti-Card moonbats show up to protest it at my local theater and attack people for going to see it.

  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
