The Columbia Star spoke with a guy opening up a new comics store in Forest Acres, who said:
I'd just add that it wasn't always this way - until the end of the 1980s, there were plenty of youngsters, but even that began to vanish as the industry lost their understandings of how to market to them, and stopped caring.
Blevins says his business goal for Punk Monkey Comics is to be a family friendly store where his wife and two children would enjoy shopping, and Columbia area families can find music, games, and movies for all ages. He says the comic book industry is still mainly for men ages 16-50 who are interested in new comics and those who are avid comic book col-lectors. Punk Monkey Comics has the newest releases in all genres.It's more like 30-50; not many teens read comics these days either, even if some people assume they could.
