Stephen Wacker defends Carol Danvers' costume change

Bleeding Cool presented several tweets where Marvel editor Wacker defended the costume change for the former Ms. Marvel as something he wanted to do for years, not as a response to fan outcries.

But this all misses a vital point: why did Carol Danvers have to be pushed out of her role as Ms. Marvel, shoehorned into the role once taken by Mar-Vell of the Kree, and her true role given instead to a Muslim teenager, all for the sake of propaganda? That's the bigger picture they're missing here, plus why they can't just give a new character their own role and codenames. IMO, Carol works better in her own role as Ms. Marvel, but only with decent editors and writers in charge. And they don't have that anymore.

And I don't buy Wacker's defenses either.
