2 more liberal "defenses" of new take on Capt. America
Cap's fought the Sons of the Serpent for years. Yes, it's 'cause this is Sam. Another big factor in this "outrage": Now we have social media— Dan Slott (@DanSlott) October 20, 2015
Sure, but until now, the Serpents weren't explicitly depicted as a hardcore right-wing gang with such obvious applications. As noted before, the Serpents were a commie front. And the outrage - which I'm sure Marvel was actually hoping for - has little to do with Sam at this point, and more to do with the ultra-leftist politics shoved into the book.
Next is Gail Simone:
Jeez. Captain America dealing with >gasp< POLITICS? >faints<— IMPALE SIMONE (@GailSimone) October 20, 2015
What she's saying is nothing more than a tedious defense that leaves out any specification how modern superhero comics are being exploited for anti-conservative leanings. Nor does she consider that decades before, writers didn't go out of their way to alienate at least half the potential audience.
And I don't think they have any respect for past talents like Kirby and Simon at all, let alone the creations modern PC advocates have been hijacking. Otherwise, they'd admit politics can go too far.
