I just don't see why Bendis is worried about Angouleme leaving out lady candidates
Superhero comics titan Brian Michael Bendis wrote on his Tumblr that he decided to make a stand "as i drifted off to sleep last night," when "i thought of my daughters. my smart, strong willed daughters who will STILL have to fight for their equal rights and how they will STILL have to fend off some men treating them as objects before they can see them as individuals and how insane it seems to me."Once again, the very man who turned Scarlet Witch into a crazy madwoman stereotype (and later a story where Hawkeye took sexual advantage of her) has spoken. The man who regurgitated the whole Phoenix cliche. And the man who concocted a scene in his take on Avengers where Tigra was assaulted by a villain called The Hood. If he was on his way to Angouleme but decided to pull out, he wouldn't be missed. Just another hypocritical modern comics writer who preaches but won't look at himself in the mirror.
The Angouleme festival may need room for improvement. But that improvement will have to leave out men like Bendis who're only concerned about certain social issues to boost their own smug egos.

Yes, "let's forget for a moment" whether it's justified for festival organizers to exclude female creators from its list of 30 candidates for a lifetime achievement award ... so you can take another shot at Brian Michael Bendis.
I'm no fan of his work, but I'm pretty sure Bendis is "qualified" to comment -- to say, "please withdraw my name from consideration because I think this is wrong" -- because he was nominated for the Grand Prix.
And what about the other 11 male candidates who asked to be withdrawn from consideration? Are they "qualified"?

Well then that means you agree with me in a sense! As for the others, if they refrain from the same kind of double-standards Bendis goes by, then they're more fit to comment than he is. BTW, are you from Lawrence, Kansas?

Also, let's forget about how Bendis helped create one of the most talked about and popular female characters around right now, Jessica Jones.
Why? Because Avi Green is an opinionated idiot who comes up with the most convoluted and nonsensical arguments to make his ill-thought out points.
Grow a brain, Avi Green.

Jessica Jones is a terrible character.

Maybe he's worried about not having a date while he's there?
