Sales for "Attack on Titan" prove manga's doing better marketing

Forbes informs us that the manga series Attack on Titan's got staggering sales numbers compared to mainstream superhero comics stateside:
In a recent tweet from one of Kodansha’s Twitter accounts, they openly stated that Attack on Titan now has over 60 million copies in print. While this doesn’t specifically state this figure is worldwide, it’s very likely. This is because the last major release of sales figures for this manga listed it at 52 million worldwide sales.

In a fascinating and insightful article over at Paste last year, it accurately showed that there are currently two mainstreams in the world of comics, the perceived mainstream of Marvel and DC and the statistical reality, which is manga.
The difference is that manga publishers are doubtless going the paperback route for nearly all their sales outside Japan, whereas DC/Marvel do nearly all their titles in pamphlets before going paperback. Either way, even their pamphlet sales are still largely limited to specialty stores today, and Marvel left mainstream bookstores yet again 2 years ago. Even smaller publishers aren't doing much better in seeking wider recognition.

So who's doing better marketing? Obviously, it's the manga publishers, in contrast to US publishers, who're stuck on ghetto mentality.

What is it with you and that word "pamphlet"? Have you even SEEN a pamphlet before? The dimensions between the average comic book and average pamphlet are completely different!
