Both DC and Marvel may be hiring a leftist TV producer to script for them
Famed writer/producer Aaron Sorkin will be meeting with both Marvel and DC this week as the two companies look to bring his talents to their respective universes. If it weren't for his track record, there might be hope he'd be true to his word and learn the ropes respectably. But his past portfolio is exactly why I don't have any faith in him to at least keep his politics to a minimum. That he's never read a comic book before is honestly telling just how qualified he really is, and I wouldn't expect him to read many Golden/Silver/Bronze age books, if he bothers to do much examination at all. Indeed, it's more likely the company executives will only think to offer him the post-2000 examples like Civil War to study from. And that's not getting very far at all. If he gets assignments from them, it'll be no surprise if they end up veering very blatantly to the left, proving the Big Two have no intention of letting up on their politics at all.
ComicBook.com learned while on the red carpet at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that the 55-year-old is being pitched by each, though he has no real ties to any particular property.
“I happen to have meetings coming up with both DC and Marvel," he said. "I have to go into these meetings and tell them as respectfully as I can that I’ve never read a comic book. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I’ve never been exposed to one. So, I’m hoping that somewhere in their library is a comic book character that I’m gonna love and I’m going to want to go back and start reading from the first issue on.”
