Max Bemis: another "progressive" comics writer antagonizing conservatives
Though I’m entertained by the continued attention to comments I’ve made regarding right wing readers, I have many republican friends and family members but singling our creators for their views earns a fuck you from me no matter what— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
I want everyone and anyone to read the book but when I’m copied in tweets involving insults to homeless people, “SJW” undertones in my writing and assumptions about compliance and silence as an artists, that’s where my venom will always be directed— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
Many people of many political persuasions enjoy our band’s music for instance but if you’re going to tag me in a tweet asking how I feel about, Say, nationalism, you’re going to get my true opinion— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
Well I guess we'd best not waste our money on his music band, huh? For all we know, they're probably not very, err, nationalistic.
The baffling part is a lot of this hysteria is coming from people who are very proud of espousing their views on social media. As a creator, I’m allowed the same rights as you. I do love comic fans and am one of the biggest you’ll meet but I don’t like bigots in any form— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
If that offends several bigoted comic readers feel free to ignore my comics but do so silently. The rest are trying to have fun here— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
So, why does he even work in the medium if he thinks comic readers are bigoted? If he wants to be so foul in his dialect, that's one thing, but it doesn't mean we should just be silent and not point out the harm it causes, morally or otherwise. If he really loved comic fans, he wouldn't resort to such nastiness.
However if you’re not familiar with my views, I’m apolitical. An anarchist actually and far from “liberal”. I don’t believe in governments or anyone being better than anyone else. Not trying to be a dick. This is the truth of me— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
If you’re looking for someone to lump in with”the liberal media” you’ll find I despise elitism, hatefulness and hypocrisy above anything— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
I believe in redeeming years of treating the underprivileged, women, and minorities less than white men legally and socially. If that ain’t a problem for you, stay away from my ass ( :— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
Yawn. Keep going. Does his abhorrence for elitists include liberal ones who don't like middle America? Even the New Republic admitted elitism is liberalism's biggest problem.
Oh! I offered some bigoted readers to feast on my ass but if they’re chill, that spot is reserved for nazis and assholes https://t.co/UnijhQOFEO— Max Bemis (@maxbemis) December 10, 2017
And this just about sums up his whole vocabulary, I guess. If that's all he can say, then no wonder he's one of many contributors at - but not limited to - Marvel who're driving away customers who don't want to hear foul-mouthed, offensive rants coming out of their mouths and acting like such embarrassments. It's not good for business, and if C.B Cebulski doesn't deal with these freaks, that'll be a first notable failure on his part.
