Mort Walker, the cartoonist of the Beetle Bailey comic strip (and also Hi & Lois), is dead at 94 years of age. This article also tells something amazing he did in the 90s:
I'd read plenty of the Beetle Bailey strips growing up and they were entertaining stuff. I gotta thank Walker for his contributions to the newspaper strip medium.
Shortly after U.S. President Bill Clinton took office, Walker drew a strip suggesting that the draft be retroactive in order to send Clinton to Vietnam. Walker said he received hundreds of angry letters from Clinton supporters.Wow, I think this is a good hint Walker was no Clinton fan, and today, after all the revelations about Slick Willy's nasty behind-the-scenes behavior with women, he had all the justification to say what he thought about Clinton. And to think liberals could only complain about the panels with General Halftrack's leering at secretary Miss Buxley! That was peanuts compared to what Clinton did, and only now are some Democrats beginning to come to terms, belatedly.
