An Indian comic for children to spread awareness of an endangered mountain region
Earlier today, a first-of-its-kind comic book — authored by Arthy Muthanna Singh and Mamta Nainy — on the lesser-known species of the Nilgiris, the endangered Tahr, was launched by World Wide Fund for Nature India (WWF).This is a topic that you're unlikely to see being brought up in mainstream USA comics today, what with the way they're all so fixated on wokeness and pushing decadence in the west. It's a shame, of course, because wildlife and forests can be very important, yet who in the western liberal world today is actually emphasizing the importance of protecting it?
A press release states that WWF India, along with its ambassadors Viswanathan Anand and Madhura Visweswaran launched the book, ‘Valli’s Nilgiri Adventures‘. It will be available for children in both English and Tamil languages.
The Nilgiri Tahr is said to be the only mountain ungulate in southern India, among the 12 species present in the country. A large part of the population has disappeared, and the existing ones are under severe stress due to habitat loss and hunting.
