Another token LGBT character is introduced at Marvel for the Spider-Man titles
Over the years, comic book publishers have been stepping up their game for Pride month. Now, along with this year’s anthology one-shot and variant covers, Marvel has revealed its first gay Spider-Man. The character will make his debut in the pages of Edge of Spider-Verse #5 this September. Created by Steven Foxe and Kris Anka, Spider-Man: Web Weaver is just one incarnation of the superhero being introduced ahead of Dan Slott’s The End of Spider-Verse event series.Oh, and Slott is involved in this project too? Well that figures. So he too continues to represent a problem for Marvel, and even if he's not the creator of the new character in focus, his name alone is reason to stay away. All this pandering represents an astonishing waste of money and resources, just so they can virtue-signal and introduce yet more token representation for wearing practically all costumes and appearing in all spinoff series based on already established ones. But in the end, it only represents more insults to the memory of Stan Lee, by exploiting the brand names he created for the sake of political agendas.
