Warner Brothers shelves a nearly complete Batgirl film with no intention of releasing it

It seems WB put only so much money into making a Batgirl movie, which appears to have been laced with quite a bit of wokeness. Now, as reported by the NY Post, after they spent $70-100 million so far to make what footage they have, it's being sent to storage to gather dust:
Holy millions down the drain, Batman!

The DC Comics film “Batgirl” will be completely “shelved” by Warner Bros., a top Hollywood source told The Post.

That means it won’t hit theaters or the streaming service HBO Max. Fans will not see it.
This fan of comics has no interest in seeing it regardless of content. I highly prefer the comics from the past century spotlighting Barbara Gordon. But, let's continue:
The reportedly $70 million movie (the source said the budget was actually more than $100 million), which was doing test screenings for audiences in anticipation of a late 2022 debut, would rank among the most expensive cinematic castoffs ever.

Those tests were said to be so poorly received by moviegoers that the studio decided to cut its losses and run, for the sake of the brand’s future. It’s a DC disaster.
My my, the last time I can recall a movie from WB being such a fiasco was when they adapted the 1965-68 British TV show, The Avengers (obviously no relation to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's famous Marvel team) into a movie, and it went practically unscreened for critics, resulting in a serious disaster. Now, we've reached the point where movies like these, even after costly filming, are scrapped altogether and stored away, presumably till a time when historians will get a chance to take a look at the completed footage and wonder what the use was of bothering to begin with. As noted by Breitbart, this movie had woke ingredients injected into the script:
The film marked DC’s first attempt at a transgender character with actor Ivory Aquino playing Batgirl’s best friend, Alysia Yeoh, as Breitbart News reported.

Aquino is best known for the activist LGBTQ series When We Rise, and portraying trans rights activist Cecilia Chung, according to Deadline.
It's stuff that was already starting to appear in the comics at the time Dan DiDio was still undeservedly in charge of DC, and this movie will only prove how unprofitable it really is in the long run. Breitbart later continued:
Batgirl, the superhero movie that the public will never see, had such weak commercial prospects that executives at Warner Bros. Discovery decided it was worth more to the company as a tax write-off than as a theatrical release or a direct-to-streaming title.

Warner Bros. Discover CEO David Zaslav chose to permanently shelve Batgirl and take a tax write-off on the $90 million project, according to multiple reports. The movie, which will skip cinemas and HBO Max, not only re-imagined the title character as a Latina but also marked the DC movie universe’s first attempt at a transgender character with trans actor Ivory Aquino in a supporting role.

It remains unclear if Warner Bros. Discovery will be able to write off the entire $90 million Batgirl budget or just part of it.

The accounting maneuver is emerging as a popular strategy at the newly merged company. HBO Max recently removed several movies that debuted exclusively on the streamer, including An American Pickle, starring Seth Rogen, and the Robert Zemeckis-directed The Witches, starring Anne Hathaway, according to a Variety report.
Zemeckis, unlike some of today's Hollywooders, used to be pretty famous for a modern filmmaker, with films like I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978), the Back to the Future trilogy, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit on his resume. He was hardly a PC type of filmmaker either years back. But based on today's PC climate, that's why his movies may not be as well received as they used to be anymore among the leftists of Tinseltown. That aside, we've clearly reached a point where colossal budgets can't prevent a movie from being shelved even before completion. And on that note, the news has also revived discussion of disgraced actor Ezra Miller, who played the Flash in the Justice League movie, as Vanity Fair reports some more disturbing news that may not have been clear before, though like much of the now farcical MSM at the moment, they continue to insist upon obscuring Miller's male gender for the sake of political correctness:
Following a string of alleged crimes and arrests, new allegations against Ezra Miller have come to light in a new Insider exposé. The extensive piece, published Thursday, features two separate accounts from parents who allege that Miller groomed their children, with both having filed protective orders against the actor. (Vanity Fair has reached out to a lawyer for Miller for comment.)

According to Insider, Sara Jumping Eagle and Chase Iron Eyes allege in court documents that their 18-year-old Tokata was verbally and physically abused by Miller after being groomed by the actor for six years. Tokata’s parents say that Miller first met Tokata in 2016 when she was just 12 years old, when all four were involved in the fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Miller kept tabs on Tokata over the years, the parents allege, later flying the then 14-year-old to the London premiere of their movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and encouraging her musical aspirations.

But in June, Tokata’s parents would obtain a temporary protective order requesting that Miller be kept away from their child. In tribal court documents, the parents, who are members of the Lakota Nation in North Dakota and South Dakota, state that the actor had been abusive toward their daughter over the years; they allege that Miller attempted to sleep in the same bed as Tokata when she was 14. Insider also spoke with someone who alleged they saw Miller having sex with Takota in December 2021. Tokata denied both claims to Insider, calling the latter “so very false.”

In January, Miller and guests at the actor’s Vermont compound told Tokata’s parents that their daughter was incapacitated after taking LSD. When Jumping Eagle and Iron Eyes saw Tokata, they told Insider, she was “incoherent,” without a phone or ID, and had bruises on her arms and left cheek. After a few weeks with her parents, Tokata would reconnect with Miller, leading to her parents’ legal action. On June 7, the tribal court said it could not locate or serve Miller and demanded they appear in-person on July 12, the day the judge later closed the case to the public, according to Insider.
If Miller had any intercourse with the girl when she was only 14, he's guilty of statutory rape, and certainly attempted rape. In any case, what's been told about him (in an unfortunately PC-laced article that's difficult to read based on the laughable use of "pronouns") so far, is very alarming, and there's no way I would bother to see this movie, period. To waste time on this film would be a disgrace next to the far superior comics of the Flash dating up to the turn of the century. Yet as Variety says, the Flash movie is still looking to see a release - despite how at this point recasting is unlikely - though it wouldn't be a surprise if there'll be little or no fanfare in the end, and no press screenings either. Nor would it be a surprise if his personality was the reason Gal Gadot didn't want to do a scene with Miller in the League movie where he crashed on top of her while speeding (a stunt double was employed instead).

This situation is apparently stemming from years of Hollywood's failure to enforce morality clauses in a performer's contract, and now, we're seeing the results, which are bound to end in huge tax losses for these films. A most troubling part of this whole debacle, however, is the hypocrisy of WB shelving the Batgirl film while still willing to release the Flash film despite how Miller's criminal offenses make it a far more serious issue. Based on the crimes Miller committed, that's why it would be best to shelve his movie too, as he really caused embarrassment, and now, the Justice League movie he appeared in will age much worse than previously expected.
