This appears to have been written in response to the following subject involving Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling pointing out that "cis" and "cisgender" are slurs against people who don't go by the transsexual lifestyle, and don't self-mutilate. Needless to say, the way Busiek's following up on some "character" who's acting as an apologist for vulgarity is quite dismaying, but far from a surprise.
