Disney's live action Little Mermaid remake fared worse at the box office than previously thought
Disney lost even more money on its woke Little Mermaid remake than had been reported.Even the comics industry underreports sales, and last time I looked, ICV2 seems to conceal much of the actual number figures, and has for at least a few years already. Cover prices are no substitute. Though speaking of prices, Marvel sure is charging a considerable amount for recent issues of Daredevil and Venom, just a cent short of 7 dollars, and DC's doing the same with a Batman miniseries titled Gargoyle of Gotham. The sum of parts sure looks more expensive than the whole, though it'd be foolish to think prices for paperbacks won't rise to galling heights as well.
Previous budget reports said the movie cost $250 million to produce. The actual budget, per this report at Forbes, was $300 million, which does not include promotion costs.
The only reason we know the truth is because Disney wanted tax credits from the United Kingdom, where much of the movie was filmed, and the UK doesn’t put up with bookkeeping shenanigans the way we do here in America.
[...] There are also reports that Disney’s almost certainly doomed woke Snow White remake cost around $210 million (not including promotion costs); and Disney’s next Marvel entry, The Marvels, which also looks DOA, cost something closer to $300 million (not including promotion). This is all coming on the heels of The Creator’s box office weekend crash.
Back on the movies, it'd be ill-advised to give any audience to Disney's next upcoming wokefests, as they do nothing more than insult the legitimacy of animation. By going to such lengths to change them into live action, all they're doing is insulting their cartoon legacies.
