The Daily Wire says signs aren't looking good for the Aquaman live action movie sequel:
DC’s “Aquaman” sequel is projected to make less than half of what the original film did its opening holiday weekend as the superhero genre continues to struggle at the box office.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is currently tracking to make $40 million in projected ticket sales over the four-day Christmas holiday weekend (Dec. 22-Dec 25), according to sources with access to data compiled by the National Research Group (NRC), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Oh well, sounds like, even if the
Amber Heard scandal hadn't sunk it, audience interest has still waned considerably in the whole genre, which never aided the zygote business, if at all. The genre's washed up, so to speak. The Aquaman movie from a few years ago is probably the last successful DC adaptation so far, and much like the case with Captain Marvel and The Marvels, will go from large box office gross to total catastrophe. What really matters now is how to buy out the Big Two from the conglomerates so that they won't continue ruining them anymore, not these live action flicks that were crafted at the expense of the comics.
