Tom King will be integral to James Gunn's DC film projects

Superhero Hype fawned over news that one of the worst writers to litter DC/Marvel in the past decade will be serving on the planning committee for James Gunn's DC movie projects:
DC Studios co-head James Gunn has opened up about comic book writer Tom King‘s role in building the new on-screen DC Universe.

It has long been known that King would be involved with DC Studios in a creative capacity. He notably wrote the DC comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which serves as the basis for the upcoming DCU movie of the same name written by Ana Nogueira. According to Gunn, however, King’s influence extends well beyond the Girl of Steel’s return to the silver screen.

“Tom is an integral part of the DCU, not just [Woman of Tomorrow],” Gunn wrote on Threads. “He’s one of the first people I showed the Superman script, asking for notes. He’s included in various ways in numerous other projects, including WoT.” Gunn also confirmed that he’s considering bringing some of King’s other acclaimed comics to screens.
Naturally, one must wonder why a modern story written by one of the worst, most overrated writers for the Big Two matters far more than anything older, like the Silver/Bronze Age tales, or even Peter David's take from 1996-2003. One can only wonder if Gunn plans to adapt Heroes in Crisis as well (and it's even alluded to in the article sans objectivity). So it's not hard for anybody in the know to guess where this could all lead to - yet more wokeness to rival what turned up in the Zack Snyder-influenced takes of this past decade.

Man, Warner Brothers sure knows how to make this news as unexciting as possible, and explain perfectly why it'd be better if these movie projects were to fold instead.

I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
